These are probably one or two watt radios, but due to the inverse square law, you only double your range when you multiply your power fourfold, so the range won't be much better than FRS. In real world 'in the field' we've gotten a mile or so with FRS, and a 'how far can we go' test with a 5W GMRS pair gave us six miles (me in back yard, wife in car, using decent roof antenna on car).
